Christel House Scholarships

Full-Tuition Scholarship 

As a 2017 graduate of Christel House Academy South, you are eligible for a full-tuition scholarship at the University of Indianapolis for the 2017-18 academic year provided you meet the eligibility requirements outlined below. 

To be eligible for the full-tuition scholarship you must: 

  • Complete the Indiana Academic Honors Diploma through Christel House Academy South, including two dual credit courses taken through UIndy with a grade of "C" or better. 
  • Successfully complete the UIndy Application for Admission, including submission of an official Christel House Academy South transcript along with official SAT or ACT scores.
  • Enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in the day division.
  • Hold U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency status and live in Indiana.
  • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid each year, available October 1 at www.fafsa.gov, on or before the deadline established by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (currently March 10 prior to fall enrollment).
  • File the University Application for Financial Aid each year available at https://apply.uindy.edu on or before March 10 prior to fall enrollment.
  • Respond to all requests for additional information from UIndy or the Indiana Commission for Higher Education on or before the state edit deadline (currently May 15 prior to fall enrollment). If the above criteria (including deadlines) are not met, the CHA scholarship will not be awarded and your financial aid will be awarded based on normal UIndy awarding policies.
    TO RENEW YOUR SCHOLARSHIP

To renew your scholarship each year you must: 

  • Complete all requirements for continued eligibility for federal and state financial aid.
  • File the FAFSA on or before the Indiana Commission for Higher Education deadline each year (currently March 10) and respond to all requests for additional information on or before the state deadline (currently May 15) if requested.
  • Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above, successfully complete 30 credit hours per year and comply with the rules and regulations of the university as outlined in the Student Handbook and University Academic Catalog.
  • Enroll as a full time day division undergraduate student each semester. The scholarship may be received for a maximum of 8 semesters. If the above renewal criteria (including deadlines) are not met, your CHA scholarship will not be renewed and your financial aid will revert to normal UIndy awarding policies.

Award amount

The CHA scholarship is a guarantee of full tuition in scholarships and grants from federal, state and University funds. Federal and State scholarships and grants (eg. Pell Grant, Frank O’Bannon Grant, 21st Century Scholarship) for which you are eligible will be used to reduce the tuition charges before applying the CHA scholarship.

You would be responsible for the cost of all other expenses including but not limited to, room (if not receiving CHA room scholarship), board, fees and books, through your own family resources, student loans and/or earnings from work.

Eligibility for other aid

The Christel House Academy Scholarship replaces any UIndy merit, talent or need-based aid for which you might be eligible. The combination of the federal, state and Christel House awards may not exceed the cost of tuition. Outside scholarships may be applied to room and board (on-campus housing only), fees and books. If scholarships and grants beyond those mentioned here are received, the total of all scholarships and grants from all sources may not exceed the cost of tuition, standard double occupancy room charge (on-campus housing only), the UIndy 14 meal plan and a standard allowance for books.

Should you receive the Lilly Community Foundation Scholarship, the total of all your scholarships and grants from all sources may not exceed the cost of tuition, standard double occupancy room charge (on-campus housing only), the UIndy 14 meal plan and the Lilly allotment for books. In the event a student is eligible for a Faculty Staff Discount, Tuition Exchange or other similar award, these awards would be granted instead of the Christel House Academy Scholarship.

Room Scholarship 

If you are eligible for the Christel House Academy South Full Tuition Scholarship, you may apply for an additional CHA Room Scholarship. Up to 10 students from CHA will be selected for the CHA Room Scholarship at 100% of the standard room charge for the 2017-18 academic year. Additional students may be eligible, at the University’s discretion, to be considered for the CHA Room Scholarship at 50% of the room charge.

To apply for the CHA Room Scholarship you must: 

  • Be eligible for the Christel House Academy South Full Tuition Scholarship.
  • Complete and submit the Christel House Academy South Room Scholarship application available at http://uindy.edu/chars by Feb. 15th.
  • Submit a tuition and housing deposit (if selected) by March 1st.

To be eligible for the Room Scholarship you must: 

  • Be selected by a committee who will evaluate your application based on your academic performance and financial need.
  • File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) each year, available October 1 at www.fafsa.gov, on or before the Indiana Commission for Higher Education deadline (currently March 10) and respond to all requests for additional information on or before the state deadline (currently May 15) if requested. If the above criteria(including deadlines) are not met, the CHA room scholarship will not be awarded and your financial aid will be awarded based on normal UIndy awarding policies.
  • File the University Application for Financial Aid each year available at https://apply.uindy.edu on or before March 10 prior to fall enrollment.
  • Continue to be eligible for the Christel House Academy South Full Tuition Scholarship including all renewal requirements.
  • Continue to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) available at www.fafsa.gov on or before the Indiana Commission for Higher Education deadline (currently March 10) and responds to all requests for additional information on or before the state deadline (currently May 15) if requested.
  • Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above, successfully complete 30 credit hours per year and comply with the rules and regulations of the university as outlined in the Student Handbook and UIndy Academic Catalog.
  • Enroll as a full time day division student each semester. The scholarship may be received for a maximum of eight semesters. If the above renewal criteria (including deadlines) are not met, your CHA scholarship will not be renewed and your financial aid will revert to normal UIndy awarding policies.

Award amount

The CHA room scholarship is equal to the cost of a standard double occupancy room in Cory Bretz, Warren, Cravens or Crowe Halls. You must reside in University housing to receive the award. You would be responsible for the cost of all other expenses including to meal charges, fees and books through your own family resources, student loans and/or earnings from work.
