Endorsement Programs

The concept of Endorsement indicates an official recognition of accomplishment by virtue of completing a competency-based professional development training program. By receiving an Endorsement Certificate of Completion, participants will have a positive and recognizable credential attractive to employers.

Facilitated by instructors with diverse expertise, educational background, and industry experience, our Endorsement programs provide affordable instruction for relevant, in-demand professional skills in industries that offer the greatest opportunities for jobs in Indiana and beyond.

Who can benefit?

These programs are beneficial for adults who desire short-term training or professional development to either enter a new career or advance in their current employment. For this reason, programs are designed to attract high school/GED/HSE graduates, college students needing immediate employability skills, college graduates desiring to supplement their degree with a specific skill, and professionals needing skills identified by their employer or industry. Individual program pre-requisites will identify the level of education and experience students need for acceptance into a program. Students will acquire skills that are immediately applicable to their current jobs or in career paths they have chosen.

Individuals completing all requirements of Endorsement programs will receive Continuing Education Units. Some programs are designed to assist individuals in preparing to apply for industry certifications.

Endorsement programs offered:

Career Foundation Endorsement

Designed for undergraduate students at UIndy and anyone interested in promoting and preparing themselves to enter the workplace .The purpose is to provide skills preparing individuals to actively thrive in the workplace.

Basic Endorsement

Designed for those who have earned a high school diploma or a GED/HED or have been engaged in the workforce if out of high school more than five years. The purpose is to provide participants with in-demand skills in the workforce.

Professional Endorsement

Designed for those who have completed at least one year of college (30 credits) and who have been in the workforce at least two years or have completed two years of college (60 credits) with no work experience. The purpose is to provide skills for participants that will give them a competitive edge in the workforce.

Advanced Endorsement

Designed for those who have earned a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science or equivalent and those who have work and/or community experience. The purpose is to provide skills and content for participants that allow them to differentiate themselves within the workplace.

Career Enhancement Endorsement

Designed for those who wish to enhance their advancement or employment opportunities. The purpose is to advance specific knowledge bases and skill sets.

Program delivery and materials

Programs are either in-person, online, or a combination of both. Online courses require participants to have a laptop or tablet computer to access course materials. Most course materials are included in the program fee. Program materials are distributed in either hard copy or digital format. Certification tests for national organizations such as PMI, SHRM, ISACA or others are not included in fees.

All in-person classes meet on the UIndy campus.

The Division for Professional Engagement offers more than 50 weekday, evening, and intensive Endorsement programs to fit a variety of professional development needs and schedules. Programs are continually evaluated for quality and relevance in meeting the needs for emerging and experienced professionals.

The Division for Professional Engagement screens and hires facilitators that possess key attributes necessary for the success of the programs. Key attributes include a) recognized as a subject matter expert, b) college degree, c) industry experience, and d) instructional design experience. Facilitators consist of UIndy full-time and adjunct staff as well as recognized private consultant trainers.


The registration fees vary by program. A group discount of 20% of the standard rate applies for groups of 4 or more individuals from the same organization. University of Indianapolis alumni receive a 50% discount off any noncredit program offered by the Division for Professional Engagement.
