Athletics & Recreation Center Campaign
UIndy's Athletics & Recreation Center is a reality, thanks in part to more than 400 alumni and friends. The facility and adjoining building are north of the Ruth Lilly Center for Health & Fitness. The largest part, the inflated dome, encloses 90,000 square feet, with a six-lane track and plenty of space within that oval to accommodate a variety of organized and intramural sports.
The dome was an important facility for Super Bowl XLVI, held in Indianapolis. Artificial turf was installed so that the NFC champion (and later Super Bowl champion) New York Giants could practice there. The ARC was a hit with the pro team, earning high praise from coach Tom Coughlin. This summer, the turf will be relocated to Arsenal Technical High School and the interior of the dome will be further developed to house a golf practice range, weight room and offices for UIndy's track program.
The adjacent brick building just to the south houses a new football locker room, athletics offices, men's and women's locker rooms, meeting rooms, and training rooms. These new facilities have opened up space in the Ruth Lilly fitness center for classrooms and recreational activities.
There are many opportunities to contribute to the new Athletics & Recreation Center. If you would like more information, contact Andy Kocher, Director of Development, at 317-788-3493 or akocher@uindy.edu.
