Dr. Mary Keller Ade and Dr. Charles Hamilton Ade Scholarship

Supported by a generous gift from Dr. Mary Keller Ade, this scholarship provides support to students in the School of Nursing.

American Art Clay/John Gormley Scholarship

American Art Clay created this fund, in honor of John Gormely, to support a scholarship for an outstanding art student in ceramics.

Leila W. Anderson Award for Christian Service

Created by Dr. Robert M. Brooker, this award is presented to an undergraduate student who best exemplifies the traits, character and ideals of the Rev. Leila W. Anderson.

Angerman Freedom Fund

This fund provides scholarship aid to students who demonstrate a positive patriotic attitude.

James F. and Dorothy D. Anglin Scholarship

Created in memory of James Anglin and later supported by Dorothy Anglin, this fund provides support to students with financial need.

Miriam F. Annis Scholarship

Several scholarships are awarded each year to needy students who demonstrate good citizenship or a spirit of community service. This scholarship is targeted to sophomore or junior students, with a preference for science and math majors.

Dorlis Gott Armentrout Award

Created by Dr. and Mrs. Robert Brooker, this award is given to the author of the best submission in the student publication Etchings.

Louis B. Astbury Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship gives financial assistance to qualified student(s) majoring in chemistry/environmental sciences.

Paul L. Bailey Scholarship

This scholarship will be given to outstanding education majors.

Reverend Gale L. and Eleanor L. Barkalow Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the family of the Reverend and Mrs. Barkalow to honor their longtime friendship and support of the University. Rosedale Hills United Methodist Church nominates students from its congregation to receive this scholarship.

Colonel Robert B. Barnett and M. Louise Dragoo Barnett Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions from Colonel Robert and M. Louise Dragoo Barnett, this scholarship was created to assist deserving students from Edinburgh High School or any other high school in Johnson County.

Jean Barnett Endowed Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions from Jean and Charles Barnett, this scholarship provides financial assistance to qualified students.

Charles E. Bassett Endowed Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions by friends and family of Charles Bassett, this scholarship fund provides financial assistance to qualified students.

This award is presented to an outstanding chemistry major.

Georgia Benson Blackwell Scholarship

Created by a gift from Georgia Blackwell, this scholarship provides support to education majors who are graduates of a Johnson County (Indiana) high school.

Georgia B. Blackwell Memorial Scholarship

Created by a gift from Georgia Blackwell, this scholarship provides support to a music education major who is a graduate of a Johnson County (Indiana) high school.

Jane Piper Borden Scholarship in Nursing

Funded with generous contributions from Kenneth and Jane Borden, this scholarship provides financial support to nursing majors who are married and have children.

Esther Haag Bowen Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded through a bequest from Esther Bowen to incoming freshmen who demonstrate a need for financial assistance.

Gerald G. Boyce Scholarship

Created in honor of Professor Boyce upon his retirement, this fund provides scholarships for students in the art department.

Byron and Mary Eloise Boyer Memorial Endowed Scholarship

This fund provides financial support to employed students with preference to first-generation college students and to students actively involved in a religious faith life.

LeAlice Briggs Endowed Nursing Scholarship

These scholarships are given in honor of Dr. LeAlice Briggs, dean emerita of the School of Nursing.

Claud Brooker Award in Chemistry

This award was created by Dr. and Mrs. Robert Brooker. It provides support for an outstanding student in organic chemistry.

Dr. Robert Brooker Most Valuable Athlete Award

This award is named for and provided by Professor Emeritus Dr. Robert M. Brooker, who was associated with the University since 1950.

Robert M. Brooker Science Scholarship

This award recipient is selected by the chemistry department. This fund also supports the Deb Shay Award, which is presented to a student who perseveres and maintains a positive and cheerful nature despite challenges.

Brooker Chemistry Scholarship

Dr. Robert Brooker, a former chemistry professor, created this scholarship to assist chemistry majors.

Lucy Munro Brooker Poetry Award

Created by Dr. and Mrs. Robert Brooker, this fund supports an annual poetry contest with winners selected by the English department.

Brown Family Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions from Willard and Dorothy Brown, and supported with ongoing gifts from Keith and Effie Brown and other members of the Brown family, this scholarship fund provides financial assistance to qualified student(s) majoring in pre-ministerial studies, education or nursing. 

Helen York Brown Endowed Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions from Helen York Brown, this scholarship provides financial assistance to qualified student(s) majoring in education.

Walter and Barbara Brown Scholarship

This scholarship was created by Walter L. Brown in memory of his late wife, Barbara. It supports the UMYF Leaders Scholarship.

Dr. Charlotte Camfield Scholarship

This Scholarship provides support for a student majoring in business education with preference to a graduate of Manual High School.

Mary L. Cannon Scholarship

Created with an estate gift from Mary Cannon, this fund provides financial assistance to qualified students.

Donald F. Carmony Award for Excellence in History and Political Science

The department of history and political science selects a senior majoring in history or political science for this award. This award is supported by the George and Ruth Hagelskamp Endowed Scholarship.

Edith B. (Hagelskamp) Carmony Award for Excellence in English

The English department selects an outstanding senior English major to receive this award.

Edith B. Carmony Scholarship

Created by Dr. and Mrs. Donald Carmony, this award provides financial assistance to qualified students.

Mary Hiatt Carmony Editorship

This gift underwrites financial support for students who produce the University newspaper, The Reflector.

Carmony Graduate Assistantship

Funds donated by Donald F. and Mary Carmony support graduate assistantships in the English department.

Herbert W. Cassel Philosophy Scholarship

Funded by generous contributions from Dr. Herbert W. Cassel, emeritus professor of philosophy and religion, and his close friends and colleagues, this scholarship is created to provide financial assistance to qualified students majoring in philosophy.

Chambers Scholarship

This scholarship, created in memory of Rev. Marshall W. Chambers, provides financial support to qualified students.

Clare Chrysler Memorial Scholarship

Created by a gift from Clare Chrysler, this scholarship provides financial assistance for students majoring in music.

Jack L. Clark Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial support to students majoring in education. First preference is given to students from Indiana.

Class of 1948 Scholarship

Scholarships to academically talented students are made possible from gifts of alumni from the Class of 1948.

Class of 1949 Scholarship

Created by members of the Class of 1949, this scholarship provides support for students demonstrating determination, self-initiative and a dedication to service.

Class of 1950 Scholarship

Several scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding students from funds donated by the Class of 1950.

Class of 1951 Endowed Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions from members of the Class of 1951, this scholarship provides financial assistance to qualified students.

Class of 1953 and 1954 Scholarship

These scholarships are made possible by gifts of alumni from the Class of 1953 and 1954 with preference given to out-of-state students.

Class of 1956 Endowed Scholarship

In celebration of their 50th reunion, the Class of 1956 created this scholarship to provide financial assistance to qualified students.

Class of 1961 Mickie G. Shircliff Scholarship

This scholarship was created with generous contributions from the Class of 1961 and friends, teammates and family members of Mickie G. Shircliff.

William G. and Vee L. Clayton Scholarship

Mr. and Mrs. Clayton were the generous supporters of this scholarship, which provides financial assistance to qualified students.

Ralph and Esther Coddington Scholarship

This fund supports scholarships for sophomore level students majoring in the physical sciences or mathematics. First preference is given to students pursuing studies in chemistry or biology, followed by mathematics.

Terry M. and Judith McBride Cole Endowed Scholarship

Terry M. Cole created this fund in memory of Judith McBride Cole to provide scholarships for students majoring in English.

Madeleine K. Colver Award

Created by Ruth Gott Brooker in honor of her great granddaughter, this award is presented to an outstanding environmental science student.

Ruth E. Comer Scholarship

Several scholarships are made available to students on the basis of academic merit and financial need through a bequest from Ruth E. Comer.

Wayne Patrick Comer Award

This memorial award is presented to an outstanding junior chemistry major.

Comer-Truax Scholarship

This scholarship was created by a bequest from Lewis Truax.

Cooper Memorial Physical therapy Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a non-traditional student enrolled in the second year of the physical therapy program.

James Crawford Scholarship

This chemistry scholarship is funded through a contribution made by Mary Hiatt Carmony in honor of James Crawford.

Hobart and Esther Creighton Scholarship

These awards are given annually to students with outstanding academic records.

Dr. William W. and Mary Ann Winebrenner Dalton Music Scholarship

Mary Ann Dalton created this scholarship to support qualified students majoring in music education.

Chad Davidson Memorial Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions from family and friends of the late Chad Davidson, this scholarship assists qualified students attending the University. First preference is given to students from Decatur County with second preference to students from Rush, Franklin, Ripley, Jennings, Bartholomew and Shelby Counties. Final preference is given to students from Southern Indiana.

Roy V. and Olive Davis Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created by a bequest from Olive Davis.

Davis-Merkel-Rayburn-Todd Scholarship

The School of Education awards this scholarship to an outstanding upper-level elementary education major.

Olive A. Day and Minnie L. Richey Scholarship

These honor scholarships are funded through a contribution made by Minnie Richey in honor of Olive Day.

Martha L. Dean Scholarship

This gift assists several academically talented students who demonstrate financial need.

John Deever Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship, created in memory of John Deever by his parents, provides support for students majoring in pre-med.

Dr. Charles Dill Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship supports an undergraduate student trainer serving the athletic department.

Rev. Steven Disseler and Dr. Jean Sachs-Disseler Scholarship

This fund provides scholarships for students enrolled in a health sciences program.

Douglas M. Dorland Scholarship

Created in memory of a former University professor, this scholarship is awarded by the business department to a business major with economics preferred.

Ralph F. Dragoo Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions from Col. Robert and Mrs. M. Louise Dragoo, this scholarship supports students who are members of the University Heights United Methodist Church.

Eugene C. Eads Award

This award is presented to a top phyiscs student as selected by the faculty.

Epsilon Sigma Alpha Award

This award is presented by the Honors College to students who meet the academic requirementsfor membership in Alpha Chi, the university-wide national honor society.

I. Lynd Esch Scholarship

This scholarship is given to a University of Indianapolis senior in honor of the late Dr. I. Lynd Esch, former president of the University. The scholarship was established in Dr. Esch's name at the time of his retirement after more than 25 years of service as president.

Fifty Years Club Sholarship Fund

Awards are given to outstanding students through contributions from alumni who graduated 50 years ago or more.

Albert Findley Endowed Scholarship

Dr. Alice Sue Green created this scholarship in memory of her father, Albert Findley. It supports scholarships for students majoring in the sciences.

Flamingo Endowed Scholarship Fund

Created by Gail Dodge and Gregory Fuchs, this fund provides scholarships for doctoral students in the Krannert School of Physical Therapy.

Focus on Future Anonymous Scholarship

This scholarship provides student scholarships based on financial need.

Gordon A. and Madelyn France Family Scholarship

Several students are the beneficiaries of this scholarship made to students demonstrating financial need and strong academic performance.

Mark S. Fritz Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship gives financial assistance to qualified undergratuate or graduate student(s) in the Center for Aging and Community.

Kirby Carey Fulton Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship for nursing majors was established by Joseph B. Fulton as a memorial to his wife, Kirby, who was a nurse.

Dr. William R. Gommel Endowed Scholarship

Vivian Gommel created this scholarship in honor of her husband to support students studying earth-space science, mathematics or physics.

I. J. Good Scholarship

Several scholarships are given each year in honor of the late I. J. Good, former University president. These scholarships are made available through earnings on funds contributed by Mrs. Good and memorial contributions made by her friends.

Anna Gott Art Award

Created by Dr. and Mrs. Brooker, this award is presented by the art department.

Effie Topping Gott English Award

The English Department presents this award to an outstanding student. It was created by Ruth Gott Brooker in honor of her mother.

Garland and Jeannette Gott Earth Science Award

Ruth Brooker created this award in honor of her brother. It is presented to the student who best exemplifies creativity in earth sciences.

Mary E. Gott Art Award

This award was endowed by Dr. and Mrs. Robert Brooker as a tribute to Mrs. Brooker's aunt Mary, who, like her sister Anna, held a government post in Washington, D.C. and loved art.

Robert N. Green Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship supports students majoring in the areas of science (including computer science), technology, engineering or mathematics.

Green Family Endowed Scholarship

Robert N. Green endowed this scholarship in honor of his parents, Guinevere A. (McGuire) Green and Floyd. D. Green. It provides financial assistance to students pursuing studies in math, physical sciences and computer sciences. 

Nellie A. Hanna Scholarship

Created by an estate gift from Nellie Hanna, this fund provides scholarships to students in any discipline.

Hanni Family Scholarship

Created to honor Menno and Sylvia Hanni and the entire Hanni family, this scholarship provides financial assistance to qualified students(s).

Earl Harris Business Award

This award, created by Earl and Carla Harris, is presented to a business major.

Hauswald Family Scholarship

This scholarship supports students from Floyd County pursuing studies in biology, chemistry or mathematics.

Ralph and Priscilla Hay Scholarship

This fund provides scholarships to students in any discipline.

Heitger Scholarship

Several scholarships are awarded through a bequest from Maxine Heitger, friend of the University.

Marvin and Sylvia Henricks Scholarship

Awards are made to entering freshmen who plan to major in the social sciences and who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance.

Herbert Dale and Elnora Freshley Hiatt Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to students demonstrating strong academic performance in high school or college.

Linden E. and Violet T. Hiatt Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial support to sophomore or higher students in need.

Lloyd E. and Treva I. Hiatt Elementary Education Scholarship

This fund provides support for students majoring in elementary education.

Luther and Elnora Hiatt Family Scholarship

This fund supports the Luther and Elnora Hiatt Family Award for Excellence in Philosophy and Religion. The philosophy and religion department selects an outstanding senior student to receive this award.

Paul F. and Jean Hirst Scholarship

Several scholarships are made available to students on the basis of academic merit and financial need through a bequest from the Hirsts.

Hottell Family Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial assistance to students majoring in elementary education or business administration.

Raymond Houk Scholarship

Several scholarships are provided by an estate gift from Mr. Houk.

Sally Hyde and Pat Humbles Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was created by Krannert School of Physical Therapy faculty, staff and alumni in honor of Sally Hyde and Pat Humbles for their service to the KSPT.

Dr. George L. Humbarger Scholarship

First preference for this scholarship is to non-traditional students studying business, accounting, economics or finance.

Robert C. and LaVern Hunt Scholarship

An endowment fund established by Robert C. Hunt, chairman of Huber, Hunt, and Nichols, Inc., and trustee emeritus of the University of Indianapolis, supports this scholarship.

Lester and Lucy (Carmony) Irons Endowed Scholarship

Secondary education majors receive preference in receiving these scholarships. The recipient must also demonstrate financial need. This fund supports the Lester and Lucy (Carmony) Irons Award presented by the School of Education.

Bill and JoAnne Jonathan and ATI Physical Therapy Scholarship

This scholarship, created by the owners of Advanced Physical Therapy (JoAnne and William Jonathan) and supported by ATI Physical Therapy, is awarded by the Krannert School of Physical Therapy to an outstanding graduate physical therapy student.

James A. and Esther Ruth Jones Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students majoring in education.

Julius C. Shrigley and Winifred Irene (Shrigley) Jones Scholarship

Awards are given to academically talented students. Preference is given to teaching majors of English, French, or other modern languages.

Kiesel Memorial Scholarship

Awards are given to students demonstrating strong academic performance in high school or college.

Mary Helen Kraft Keim Scholarship

Scholarships from this endowment fund are offered to outstanding students.

Dr. David B. Kenney Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions from Phil and Colleen Kenney and family, this scholarship supports students in the kinesiology program.

Dr. Robert L. Kent Scholarship

This scholarship was created in memory of Professor Robert Kent and provides support for students majoring in biology.

Kathryn R. and Robert W. Koenig Family Scholarship

These scholarships are made available through earnings on funds contributed by Koenig family members and friends. Preference is given to students who are pursuing careers in Christian ministry, education, music, nursing or law.

Dr. Robert and Milly Cassidy Kopecky Endowed Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship supports students enrolled in the School of Nursing.

Krannert School of Physical Therapy Scholarship

The Krannert School of Physical Therapy awards one scholarship to an outstanding graduate physical therapy student and a second award to a student in the physical therapist assistant program. The awards are based on financial need and merit.

James P. Lamberson Memorial Scholarship

The University's music department awards this scholarship to deserving music students with preference to an organ or keyboarding major.

Wilmer D. and Hope B. Lawrence Endowed Scholarship

First preference for this scholarship is students majoring in business administration. Second preference is given to students with a major in fine arts, such as music or modern language.

Dr. Phylis Lan Lin and Dr. Leon Lin Scholarship in Social Work

The faculty annually selects students to receive this award created by Dr. Phylis Lan Lin and Dr. Leon Lin. Recipients are selected on the basis of community service, leadership in the community, grade point average, or other forms of demonstrated scholarship.

Carl Lindstrom Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship in memory of Carl Lindstrom is awarded to students majoring in music, with preference given to violin students.

J. Louis and Helen Martens Scholarship

Created by an estate gift from Mr. and Mrs. Martens, this scholarship provides support for students based on financial need.

Woody and Gerrie McBride Endowed Scholarsip

Funded with generous contributions from Woody and Gerrie McBride, family and friends, this scholarship gives financial assistance to qualified students with learning or physical disabilities.

Orvall G. and Dorothy McCleary Scholarship

Preference for this award is given to students majoring in religion or displaying an orientation toward service to others.

Frank McHale Scholarship

Graduates of Logansport or other Cass County (Indiana) high schools are eligible for this award.

Esta B. and Clifford McKee Scholarship

This fund supports scholarships for students majoring in elementary education.

Dr. Marga Meier Scholarship

This scholarship was created in honor of Dr. Meier's retirement from the University after 32 years of service. It supports foreign language students who show excellence in their studies.

Bishop and Mrs. Paul W. Milhouse Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Bishop and Mrs. Milhouse in memory of their parents.

Andrew and Joan Miller Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Zane G. and Frances Todd to give financial assistance to qualified students.

Carol Sue Miller Scholarship

Created in memory of Carol Sue Miller by her family, this scholarship provides support for students majoring in chemistry or business.

Michael Molchan Memoral Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student who embodies the spirit of Michael Molchan's applied method of teaching by demostrating an interest in the applied aspects of marketing and/or entrepeneurship.

William P. Morgan Award

The biology department presents this award to a junior.

Dr. William P. Morgan Scholarship

This scholarship honors Dr. Morgan, who was chairman of the University's biology department.

Jerry Ann Motley Scholarship

Several scholarships are awarded to outstanding seniors majoring in biology.

John and Evalyne Mullen Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by the School of Business to a student in the Master of Business Administration program.

Anna Hardy Myers Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to junior students majoring in the liberal arts, sciences, or fine arts. It was created by Frieda Myers '51 in memory of her mother, Anna Hardy Myers '16.

Dr. Roland Nelson Scholarship Fund

This scholarship, awarded to a student majoring in history or political science, was created in honor of Dr. Nelson, who taught at the University from 1959 to 1981.

Larry Newberg Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial assistance to students pursuing a life of service through nursing.

Marleta Newberg Endowed Scholarship

Recognizing that the success of future generations is dependent on dedicated teachers, Rev. and Mrs. Newberg created this fund to provide scholarships for aspiring education majors.

Arthur H. and Nettie Nye Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded each year from earnings on a fund contributed by Mr. and Mrs. Nye. Preference is given to members of the First United Methodist Church of Marion (Indiana) and then to Marion High School graduates. These scholarships are open only to students majoring in nursing who are Grant County residents.

C. S. Ober Scholarship

Several awards are given to students pursuing careers in business or related fields.

Sylvia Hardesty Parks Scholarship

Several awards are given to outstanding students in memory of the donor.

Toni Peabody Endowed Scholarship in Social Work

This award was created to provide financial assistance for social work students enrolled in a practicum course.

Pepsi Endowed Scholarship

This fund provides support to students with financial need.

Verna W. Percifield Education Scholarship

Mrs. Percifield provided for several scholarships to needy students through her bequest to the University. These scholarships are awarded to students who have an interest in the human services field.

Joan V. Persell (AIB, Inc.) Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was created in honor of Joan Persell by the Indianapolis chapter of the American Institute of Banking. It is awarded to an undergraduate student in the School of Business with preference to students who are bank employees.

Joan V. Persell Scholarships

The School of Business selects recipients for this scholarship, which honors Joan V. Persell, longtime director of extended programs and educational advisor for the American Institute of Banking, Inc. Preference is given to part-time and evening division students majoring in business or the natural sciences.

Priddy Geology Award

This award is presented for excellence in geology.

Kate Ratliff Psychology Award

This award is presented by the College of Applied Behavioral Sciences to a student who best exemplifies service to the community, as wel as outstanding academic achievement.

Philip and Glennis Reidenbach Family Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students pursuing a degree in teacher education, science, religion or medicine. Geographic preference is given to students who live in Bremen, Indiana, or Marshall County.

Clara Proctor Reynolds Scholarship

These awards are restricted to residents of Daviess County (Indiana), who demonstrate financial need and outstanding academic performance.

Mildred Myers Reynolds Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students based on financial need with preference given to students majoring in social work with a strong interest in gerontology.

Dr. Mildred Myers Reynolds MSW Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is awarded by the social work faculty to a student pursuing a master's degree in social work.

Thomas R. Richter Memorial Scholarship

Full-time pre-ministerial students who will serve the United Methodist Church are eligible to apply for this scholarship, which was established by Dr. Arthur Richter in memory of his son.

George B. Riley Scholarship

Scholarships are given to students each year on the basis of academic merit and financial need.

M. Helen Roberts Scholarship

Through a bequest from Mrs. Roberts, several scholarships are provided to outstanding students, with preference being given to students majoring in music education.

George Thomas & Dorothymae Beeson Rush Music Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial assistance to qualified students majoring in music education.

Helen E. Rusk Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to students majoring in elementary education. Preference will be given to freshmen from St. Joseph County.

Robert L. and Anita M. Sachs Endowed Fund

This scholarship provides financial assistance to students pursuing studies through the BUILD program.

Marjorie R. and Marie Schoch Scholarship

Scholarship is awarded to students majoring in humanities.

School of Business Faculty Scholarships

Several scholarships are awarded each year to entering freshmen each year by the School of Business.

School of Occupational Therapy Alumni Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions from School of Occupational Therapy Faculty, alumni and other donors, this scholarship gives financial assistance to qualified master of occupational therapy students.

Richard E. Schrier Student Athlete Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded for graduate work on the basis of undergraduate academic achievement, performance in varsity athletics, and graduate goals.

Melvin E. Scott Endowed Scholarship

Created by an estate gift, this fund provides scholarships for qualified students.

Marwan Izzedeen Shawa Scholarship

This scholarship was created by friends and family of Marwan Shawa, who graduated from the University in 1959.

Harvey M. and Henrietta L. Rider Showalter Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is established in memory of Harvey and Henrietta Showalter, recognizing their contribution to the University of Indianapolis and everything they stood for. This scholarship fund is created to give financial assistance to qualified students majoring in music, history, art or education.

Jessie E. (Jay) Sibley Jr. Endowed Scholarship

First preference for this scholarship is students who are members of Rosedale Hills United Methodist Church. Second preference is members of any United Methodist church. When possible, this scholarship is given to an earth space science major.

Sidebottom Family Scholarship

With contributions from the Sidebottom family, this scholarship provides financial assistance to students majoring in mathematics or physics or pursuing a career in the ministry.

Robert A. and June K. Simon Scholarship

Preference is given to students who are members of Southport Presbyterian Church of Southport (Indiana). Students must be graduates of Perry Meridian, Southport, or Center Grove high schools to be eligible for this award.

Dwight L. Smith Award

This award is presented by the department of history and political science for excellence in research and writing.

Herbert W. and Marjorie Anson Smith Special Academic Scholarship

Education majors who have graduated from Southport or Perry Meridian high schools may receive these funds donated by Herbert and Marjorie Smith.

George and Betty St. Angelo Scholarship

This fund provides scholarships for qualified and deserving students.

George Sr. and Lillian St. Angelo Endowed Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions from George and Betty St. Angelo and family members, this scholarship was created in memory of George's parents, George Sr. and Lillian St. Angelo.

Delbert and Virginia Stevens Education Scholarship

The School of Education awards these scholarships to students majoring in chemistry education or mathematics education.

Dr. Philip and Mrs. Clare Stone Philosophy & Religion Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students majoring in philosophy and religion with involvement in campus ministry or the Lantz Center for Christian Vocations and with intent to pursue work in the ministry field.

Gladys S. Swearingen Scholarship

This fund provides scholarships for students majoring in nursing.

Donald W. and Nita Tanselle Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded to students on the basis of academic merit and financial need.

Dorothy ’34 (Tohill) and Charles Taylor Endowed Scholarship

Created by a generous gift from Randy and Sue Taylor in honor of Randy's parents, this scholarship provides support to student(s) enrolled in classes for training and education related to the Christian ministry as clergy or in lay positions.

Kermit R. Todd Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students majoring in elementary education based upon financial need, leadership and extra-curricular activities.

Marysnow Todd Scholarship

This fund was established by Dr. Zane G. Todd and friends in honor of his wife, Marysnow Todd. It provides scholarships for students who have demonstrated, or have the potential to demonstrate, excellent academic achievement.

Sid Tuchman Award for Excellence in Management

This annual award is presented to an Indianapolis student majoring in business administration who demonstrates entrepeneurial and leadership qualities and is interested in owning his or her own service-oriented business.

Merrill Underwood Art Award

This award is presented by the art department.

Underwood Earth Space Science Award

This award is presented to the outstanding student in the department majoring in earth or environmental sciences.

University of Indianpolis Faculty Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded to Indiana residents. Recipients are asked to write a letter of thanks to a mentor who has made a significant difference in their lives.

University of Indianapolis Jazz Scholarship

Funded by the generous donations of a friend of the University, this scholarship was established to assist students who are majoring in music with a concentration in jazz.

Richard F. Veazey Scholarship

This award is presented by the School of Business for excellence in business administration and economics.

A. E. Wake Scholarship

This fund provides scholarship support for students of any major.

Jeanne Wade Watkins Scholarship

Michael J. Watkins, graduate and trustee of the University, established this scholarship in tribute to his wife, Jeanne Wade Watkins. This scholarship, for graduates of high schools on the south side of Greater Indianapolis, is targeted to students who are pursuing degrees in elementary education.

Sibyl Weaver Endowed English Scholarship

Funded with generous contributions from Harold and Ann Cory Bretz '48, this scholarship is awarded to students majoring in English.

Dr. Sibyl Weaver Memorial Scholarship

This award is given to students showing high academic performance and financial need. Dr. Weaver began teaching at Indiana Central in 1918 and became chair of the English department in 1921. She remained in that position until her retirement in 1959.

Dr. and Mrs. James A. Weber Scholarship

Through a bequest from Dr. Weber, a former professor of theology, scholarships are awarded to pre-theology students or students in health-related majors.

Virgil and Phyllis Webster Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial assistance to qualified students majoring in mathematics, natural science or nursing.

Weigand Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students with financial need who are pursuing a degree in nursing or education.

Lawrence G. D. and Ruth Wertz Scholarship

Several scholarships are awarded to students based on academic merit and financial need.

Susanna Wesley Scholarship

The dean for Ecumenical and Interfaith Programs selects the recipients of this scholarship.

Reverend Joseph A. White Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship gives financial support to qualified students pursuing pre-ministerial studies or Christian service.

Phillip E. and Carolyn I. White Endowed Scholarship

Preference is given to students majoring in education from Fountain Central High School, North Vermillion High School or Seeger High School. Second preference is students majoring in physical therapy or occupational therapy from the previously named schools.

Earl B. and Marie C. Whitecotton Scholarship

Several scholarships are provided on the basis of academic and financial merit.

Dr. Suzanne C. Willey Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was created in memory of Judith Birgerson '67 and in honor of Sue Willey, family friend and mentee of Judith. Preference is given to student-athletes participating in basketball, softball or volleyball.

Blaine H. Wiseman Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded from this fund to a student demonstrating superior academic achievement.

Dr. Randall M. and Julia M. Wolfe Scholarship

Through a bequest from Mrs. Wolfe, daughter of former University president I. J. Good, and her husband, several scholarships are awarded with preference to music majors.

Samuel and Harriet Woods Scholarship

This fund provides scholarships on the basis of academic merit and financial need.

Russell and Lorene Youngblood Scholarship

This scholarship was funded with generous contributions from Lynn Youngblood, as well as gifts from other family and friends, in memory of his parents, Russell and Lorene Youngblood. It provides scholarships for students in any area of study.

Zink Family Scholarship

Created by the Zink Distributing Company, this fund provides financial assistance to qualified students.

Church-Named Scholarships

Endowment funds that have been contributed under the Church-Named Scholarship Program generate several scholarships for deserving United Methodist students. Under this plan, the church agrees to establish an endowment fund that will be built, usually over a period of years, to a total of $25,000. The church may then recommend students from the congregation for the scholarships generated from this fund. If recipients are not recommended by the church, the University selects another United Methodist student to receive the scholarship.
