About the Krannert Memorial Library

The Krannert Memorial Library was completely renovated in 2015. The following features create a 21st-century active learning environment with collaborative space for research, scholarship and engagement.

Library stats & collections

  • 104.5 hours of weekly operation during the regular academic year
  • Nearly 160,000 volumes of books and periodicals
  • Nearly 7,000 AV items
  • Around 120 databases with access to millions of articles, e-books and streaming video
  • Frederick D. Hill University Archives and Special Collections, which includes thousands of unique documents, photographs, letters, and books from the University Archives, Mayoral Archives and other collections, such as the Lois Fouts Rare Book Collection.

Student support

  • ASK Desk with access to professional librarians for research assistance

Study spaces

  • 12 study rooms with whiteboards and 49" flatscreen monitors with Wireless Interactive Presentation Systems software for wireless data display from digital devices
  • A Seminar Room with 2-way videoconferencing
  • Sherwood and Janet Roberts Blue Law Reading Room and Yvonne Shaheen Reading Room for quiet study
  • 24-hour Lab, a 24-hour space offering UIndy faculty and students access to computing, printing, vending, group study and adaptive technologies

Library technology

  • 93 scholar stations, including 38-seat instructional lab
  • 3 public computers available to unaffiliated members of the public
  • Printing, scanning, photocopying and microfilm
