The Lugar Center's Indiana Collegiate Student Government Conference helps members of student government develop leadership skills.

Indiana Collegiate Student Government Conference

Many of Indiana's current leaders developed their leadership skills by participating in their college or university's student government. In an effort to encourage and support student government leaders, the Lugar Center annually hosts the Indiana Collegiate Student Government Conference.

Participants

The student government executive boards, including the student body president, vice-president(s), treasurer, secretary, or their equivalents, from all Indiana colleges and universities are invited to participate.

What Participants Gain

  • Opportunities to network with student government leaders from Indiana's colleges and universities during and after the conference
  • Knowledge about the relationship between ethics and effective student government leadership
  • Skills that create successful leaders

The schedule for the day includes a combination of speakers and interactive workshops and discussions. Past events have featured former Indiana governor Joe Kernan and Senator Richard Lugar; roundtable discussions for public, private and two-year institutions; workshops focusing on how to be a successful student leader and how to facilitate productive meetings; and discussion groups on ethics and civility in organizations and society.
