Next Steps for Admitted International Students at UIndy
Congratulations on your admission to the University of Indianapolis! Soon you’ll be able to meet with friends for lunch near the reflecting pool and cheer on UIndy at a sporting event, but first there are a few additional steps to take before you arrive on campus. It’s easy if you just follow our checklist.
Note: These steps are for admitted students only. If you are not yet accepted for admission to the University of Indianapolis, complete your admission application and submit all required documents. Please contact your admission counselor with any questions.
What's Next?
ZeeMee is an online community for admitted students. After you are accepted for admission, watch for an email message inviting you to sign on to meet other incoming students and learn what your future holds at UIndy.
Admitted students need to make a small prepayment before registering for classes or signing up for campus housing. This deposit is $200 whether or not you wish to live off or on campus. Pay the deposit on your application portal. After your deposit is processed, you may move ahead with the following checklist items.
After we process your deposit, you may access your my.uindy.edu account. Whether you want to sign up for campus housing, review your class registration, access UIndy email, use the campus directory, or search for campus employment, it all happens on your my.uindy.edu page.
When you access your account, the system will give you a username and you will set a password. Remember these! Your UIndy email address will be YourUsername@uindy.edu. Your professors and campus offices will send important messages to your UIndy email, so check it daily.
You will submit your housing and meal plan preferences on your my.uindy.edu page. Go to the Student section and click on Apply for Housing & Meal Plans. You may also go back to this site later and change your selections.
Most incoming students will need to do an online English self-assessment and take an online math placement exam before registering for classes.
To do the assessments, log into your my.uindy.edu page, go to the Student section, click on Placement Exams and read the instructions. The English assessment is not an exam; rather it is a series of questions to measure your use of English. The math assessment is an exam. It can be taken twice if you aren’t satisfied with your first score. You will need to practice within the math exam system for at least five hours between attempts. Please complete your placement assessments as soon as possible and well before your New Hounds Day.
The UIndy Health & Wellness Center requires all students to submit a completed health record form. All listed vaccines are required. Please get a wellness checkup from your health provider, assemble your vaccine records in English, and have any remaining vaccines before coming to campus. If you are lacking a checkup or vaccine, you may be able to receive it from the UIndy Health & Wellness Center. Appointments are required. To make an appointment, call 317-497-6500 or go to www.mywebahead.com/uindy.
Soon after you arrive on campus, take your completed health form and records to the Health Center:
University of Indianapolis
Health & Wellness Center
Health Pavilion 108
1400 East Hanna Avenue
Indianapolis, Indiana USA 46227-3697
Tip – NCAA student-athletes must submit the Health & Wellness Center’s Health Record Form in addition to the health form provided by the athletic department. However, because athletes will receive a physical exam on campus, it is not necessary to get a checkup in advance.
Questions: Contact the Health Center at 317-497-6500
The following information will help you make a timely payment.
How do I use ebill.UIndy.edu to see and pay my charges?
You may view and pay your charges at ebill.uindy.edu. Log in with your UIndy username and password.
Full charges appear on your Ebill account after you register for at least 12 credits of coursework. (Credit for waitlisted classes is not included in this total.) If your charges have not posted, contact your admission counselor for a cost estimate.
Do not be concerned with knowing the exact amount of your charges before they appear on your account. If you make a payment that is insufficient, you can simply make up the difference once you know the final amount. If you overpay, we will refund the balance to you after the first week of classes.
After you register for at least 12 credits, any scholarship you have received from UIndy will post to your ebill account within a few weeks. Contact your admission counselor if your academic scholarship does not appear. If you are an NCAA athlete, please inform your coach if an athletic grant does not appear.
A charge for medical insurance will appear on your Ebill account unless we have approved your alternate insurance.
What is the Payment Deadline?
Payment is due approximately 4 weeks before each semester begins. In order to remain enrolled as a UIndy student, you must pay at least half of your semester charges before classes begin.
What Are Authorized Users?
On ebill.uindy.edu, you will probably want to set up your sponsor or parent as an authorized user. This will allow your sponsor/parent to check your charges and payment status as well as to make payments on your behalf.
What Forms of Payment Do You Accept?
On ebill.uindy.edu, you may make payments using a credit card, TransferMate (see more information below) or echeck from a US bank account. Please note that credit card payments incur a service charge of 2.95%. Also, you may need to ask your credit card company to authorize payment to the University of Indianapolis.
What is TransferMate and how does it work?
TransferMate is a bank-to-bank wire payment service. You will find a TransferMate payment link at the bottom left of your ebill.uindy.edu screen. You may also visit the TransferMate website directly.
Follow these instructions to make a payment via TransferMate:
-
Choose the country you are paying from and your preferred payment method
-
Complete payer details and set up an account
-
Make your payment with the provided instructions
-
Track your payment through the TransferMate system
Questions? Email edu@transfermate.edu or access the TransferMate Help menu.
How Can I Set Up a Payment Plan?
On ebill.uindy.edu, UIndy offers payment plans that divide the amount due for a semester into 2 - 5 monthly installments. The greater the number of installments, the earlier your payments must begin. This means as a new student you won’t have a chance to join the longer-term payment plan in your first semester. However, you may still divide your payments into two installments. Remember to make the first payment by the Friday before classes begin.
Tip – Plan ahead in future semesters so you can set up a longer-term payment plan, if you wish.
Check with your admission counselor about when to arrive in Indianapolis, and consult our Academic Calendar before making your travel arrangements. We provide free airport pickup if your flight is scheduled to arrive by 7pm and if you arrange it with us at least one week in advance.
There are two parts to New Student Orientation – International Student Orientation and Welcome Week. Both parts are mandatory and cover different material. Watch your email for information about the International Student Orientation program.
Welcome Week is a series of fun and informative sessions for all new students that take place in the five days preceding the first day of classes. Both International Student Orientation and Welcome Week are required – and we promise you’ll enjoy them and find them valuable.
