The Master of Science (MS) in Psychology program at the University of Indianapolis provides the foundation and opportunities for students to become more competitive in doctoral psychology programs. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for advanced careers in psychology. Combine Passion with Purpose: Psychology Tracks
General Psychology: This track is designed to prepare students for doctoral work by taking core courses in psychological sciences and additional clinically-focused coursework. Graduates of this track will be well prepared to apply to doctoral programs (either Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in psychology.
Research: Students interested in becoming more competitive for Ph.D. programs in psychology can apply for this track, wherein they receive more extensive research training by being paired with a faculty mentor and completing a thesis.
Program Development & Evaluation: This track is designed to provide students with additional preparation and training in project management and research in applied settings. Specifically, students will learn to use systematic methods to collect, analyze, and evaluate existing projects, policies, and programs. Graduates of this track will be competitive for employment in social service agencies, government positions, non-profit organizations, and other business and commercial organizations.
Our program not only provides a solid foundation in theory and research methods but also encourages hands-on experience through internships and research opportunities. Students in our program excel in various roles, serving as outstanding teachers, researchers, counselors, and leaders in their respective fields.
Success After Graduation
Our graduates regularly pursue PsyD and PhD programs in various fields, such as:
- Clinical and counseling psychology
- Social psychology
- Developmental and educational psychology
For students interested in continuing their doctoral studies at UIndy, MS in Psychology students in good academic standing receive preferential interviews to the PsyD program. Students pursuing the General Track are able to transfer a significant number of credits into the PsyD program.
