Personalize Your Degree
The Department of Psychological Sciences is proud to offer two concentrations within the undergraduate psychology program to allow students to explore the areas of psychology they’re most passionate about and to gain real-world experience within their future fields.
For students who plan to become counselors or clinical psychologists, the concentration in Clinical and Counseling Studies is the perfect introduction to clinical and counseling practices and theory. Courses included in this concentration explore topics such as abnormal psychology, personality, and sociocultural factors, and the application of psychology in clinical and counseling settings.
For students interested in graduate school or careers in neuropsychology or neuroscience, the concentration in Neuroscience offers the ideal foundation to succeed in these endeavors. Courses included in this concentration explore topics such as cognitive neuroscience, clinical neuropathology, and the biological basis of perception and movement.
Because of UIndy, I have achieved clinical experience from my internship and also unique research experience by assisting graduate students. The diversity of the classes offered helped me narrow down which area I want to pursue in psychology, and opened me up to areas I had never considered before.
Faculty Invested in Your Success
The faculty of the UIndy Department of Psychological Sciences bring decades of professional experience in a variety of areas of expertise to their classrooms. Faculty pair first-hand experience with first-class knowledge to prepare their students to succeed in the modern world of psychology. Outside of the classroom, faculty remain involved both on-campus, as sponsors for registered student organizations (RSOs) and off-campus, as members of professional boards and societies, such as the National Alliance on Mental Health Indiana (NAMI). These professional roles not only keep UIndy’s faculty on the forefront of psychological discovery, but also offer numerous opportunities for students to engage in meaningful research alongside a faculty mentor.
