Master of Science in Aging Studies

For all the ways we age

The face of aging in our world is changing. There is no one picture of the way we age. Our society is filled with older adults who are approaching their later years with energy and passion, as well as those who find themselves challenged by health, finances, or other issues. That is why UIndy's Master of Science in Aging Studies (MS-AGST) offers both breadth and depth in promoting a positive and holistic view of aging.

By 2030, more than 20% of the U.S. population is projected to be 65 or older (U.S. Census Bureau, 2020), making now the ideal time to explore and study the one experience shared by all—aging. Our program highlights aging as a lifelong process, emphasizing how early-life choices and experiences shape our later years. Through this lens, students gain a deeper understanding of the aging journey and its impact on individuals and society.

No matter your undergraduate background, you can complement it with UIndy's Master of Science in Aging Studies degree to make a meaningful impact by enhancing, supporting, and enriching the lives of older adults in your own community and across the globe.

Mission

The mission of the Aging Studies Programs is to prepare future leaders who are able to apply knowledge and skills about “best practices” regarding enhanced quality of life for older adults and their families.
