Admission Requirements for BSN to DNP Programs
The information below will assist you in completing your application for the BSN to DNP program at UIndy. The application deadline is March 1. Completed applicants who meet all requirements will be asked to attend an interview day on either March 27 or April 3.
This is everything you need to be considered for admission.
- Online application
- One recommendation letter from an individual with a minimum of a BSN that has served as your current/recent supervisor
- Current resume
- Full-time FNP/AGPCNP applicants: Resume should demonstrate two years of full-time work experience as an RN before applying to the program
- Recommended work experiences: ICU, Step-Down Units (MPC, CPCU), Medical Surgical, or ER
- Part-time work experience will be evaluated on a case by case basis
- Full-time NNP applicants: Resume should demonstrate two years of full-time work experience (within the last 5 years) in the care of critically ill neonates or infants in critical care inpatient settings before applying to the program
- Recommended work experiences: Level III and/or IV NICU
- Some practice experience in a critical (intensive care) inpatient setting for infants (1-12 months of age) may be considered
- Part-time NNP applicants: Must demonstrate two years of full-time work experience prior to starting clinical course work
- Full-time FNP/AGPCNP applicants: Resume should demonstrate two years of full-time work experience as an RN before applying to the program
- Essay addressing the applicant’s career goals related to the BSN to DNP
- A valid unencumbered RN license in the state where clinicals will be completed
- States approved for admission include Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky
Submitted outside of the application form:
- Official transcripts of all previous college work, showing:
- Graduation from an accredited NLN-AC or CCNE nursing program
- Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- An interview with program faculty may be scheduled

The University of Indianapolis cannot accept a fax copy as an official transcript. The University of Indianapolis will accept paper copies of official transcripts that have the school seal and are mailed direct from the institution in a sealed envelope to the University of Indianapolis. The University of Indianapolis will also accept an electronic transcript submitted via eScrip or Docufide.
