Once you have been accepted to the University of Indianapolis, you will be assigned a pre-clinical nursing academic advisor, who will help plan your freshman year course schedule. ALL students wanting to pursue a BSN degree must apply to and be accepted to the BSN Program clinical phase to begin NURB clinical coursework. In addition to successfully satisfying prerequisite course and GPA requirements, students are required to complete the HESI admission test (fee associated), criminal background check (fee associated), American Heart Association BLS certification for healthcare workers (fee may be associated), “Standards for Admission and Progression to the Nursing Program” acknowledgement, and to submit required documentation to CastleBranch.
Clinical Nursing Applications are due no later than the 2nd Monday of May for Semester I (August) start. A student needing to retake a prerequisite course due to withdrawing from or earning a grade of C or lower may be ineligible to pursue a BSN degree. Clinical Nursing Applications are due no later than the 2nd Monday of November for semester II (January) start. *Meeting all admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the nursing program and may be competitive.
Students must meet the following requirements to be considered for admission to the BSN Program clinical phase:
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
- A minimum grade of C in all prerequisite courses
- Completion of the Criminal Background Check
* Please note that admission is competitive and fulfillment of the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance.
Once you have been accepted to the University of Indianapolis, your college transcript will need to be assessed to determine if you have completed all nursing prerequisites. Once all nursing prerequisites are complete, you may be eligible to enter into the BSN Program clinical phase. Refer to the “Application for BSN Program Clinical Courses” section above for application deadlines and requirements.
No nursing courses taken outside of the University of Indianapolis may count toward completion of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Additionally, students wanting to be considered for admission into the BSN Program and who have withdrawn from or earned a C or lower in any designated nursing course outside of the University of Indianapolis will be ineligible for admission for two (2) semesters following unsatisfactory performance of that nursing course. Semester I occurs during the fall, semester II occurs during the spring, and semester III occurs during the summer.
