What to Bring
Items residents should consider bringing from home:
- Alarm clock
- Clothes hangers
- Computer
- Lamp
- Towels
- Renter's Insurance*
- Cell phone
- Cleaning supplies (for your room)
- Extra-long twin sheets (80" x 36") and bedding materials
- Shower bucket (for carrying supplies to and from bathroom)
- Laundry bag/basket & detergent/supplies
Other helpful items include:
- Plastic plates and cups
- Silverware
- Smart TV (Roku Ready)
- Throw rug or carpet piece
- Umbrella
- Wall decorations
- Backpack
The following small appliances are permitted:
- Hair dryers
- Popcorn poppers
- Small microwaves
- Small refrigerators (3.5 cubic ft.)
- Coffee makers (K-Cup, Keurig, Nespresso - NOT hot plate coffee makers)
What not to bring
The following are a sample of things that are prohibited in the residence halls:
- Air fryers
- Alcoholic beverages
- Archery equipment
- Candles and incense
- Crock pots
- Electric blankets
- Firearms
- Fireworks
- Illegal drugs
- Knives
- Large refrigerators
- Non-battery operated string lights
- Other items defined as weapons
- Rice cookers
- Waterbeds
- Pets (aquariums are permissible, however)
- Hot plates, toasters, toaster ovens, George Foreman Grills
- Coffee pots (standard coffee pots with a hot plate surface)
*The University is not responsible for the loss of money or valuables, damages to property, or injuries on the premises. Students are encouraged to purchase renter's insurance or make arrangements with an insurance company to ensure coverage of personal belongings.
