Class Schedule and Topics

Date/Time Topic
October 9
1-3 pm

Phone Friendly: Getting to Know Your Smartphone
This class builds a foundation for the use of your smartphone — from turning it on and navigating the screen to making calls, sending texts, and adjusting settings so the phone works for you. We'll also put the camera to use, so participants leave able to snap, find, and share their own photos. Participants will also learn how voice assistants (Siri / Google Assistant) can make everyday tasks easier. No question is too basic here!

October 16
1-3 pm

Spot It, Stop It: Scam Recognition & Safety
Scams targeting older adults are on the rise — and increasingly sophisticated. This session teaches practical, real-world strategies to recognize red flags in calls, texts, emails, and online offers. This session will cover safe password storage, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and public Wi-Fi safety. Participants will learn how they can protect themselves and their families with confidence.

October 23
1-3 pm

Money in Your Pocket: Digital Financial Literacy
From checking bank balances to paying bills online — and sending money to a friend or grandchild with a tap — this session builds comfort and confidence with everyday digital finance tools, including peer-to-peer payment apps like Venmo, Zelle and Apple Pay, while keeping safety and fraud prevention front and center.

October 30
1-3 pm

Health at Your Fingertips: Digital Health Platforms
Patient portals, telehealth visits, and prescription apps are becoming the norm. This session gives a general overview of what these tools are and how they work — using demo/sample screens rather than logging into personal accounts — so participants know what to expect and feel prepared to use them on their own.

November 6
1-3 pm

Connected Care: Health Devices & Your Phone
Many health devices — from blood pressure monitors to fitness trackers — now sync directly with a smartphone. This session demystifies that connection, helping participants use their devices to track and share health data.

November 13
1-3 pm

Stay Social, Stay Sharp: Socialization & Recreation
Technology isn't just practical — it's a gateway to connection and fun. This closing session explores video calling, social media, and recreational apps that help participants stay in touch with loved ones and explore new interests with confidence.
