Admissions Criteria for the Master of Science in Athletic Training Priority Admit Option

 

June 2027 start date

This application process is open to students with at least junior status (60-89 credits) at any institution who is projected to graduate with an undergraduate degree by June 2027.

  1. Applicants must be at a junior status at any regionally accredited institution.
  2. UIndy students who are early assurance can apply using this method and eliminate CAS application fees.
  3. Interested students must apply using the University of Indianapolis Application System between the dates of January 15 - May 1 of their junior year.
  4. Successful completion of the following prerequisite courses (with a ‘C’ or better) by time of application. 
    1. Human Anatomy
    2. Human Physiology
    3. Chemistry (1 semester) or physics
  5. The remaining prerequisite courses must be completed prior to the start of the MSAT program. Admission will be contingent on the completion of all prerequisites with a C or better prior to the start of the program (June 2027).
  6. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application.
  7. Three (3) letters of recommendation including one from an athletic trainer or health professional (preferred). Two additional letters must be from professional or academic source.
  8. Personal statement uploaded to applicant portal after application has been submitted.
  9. Observation hours: 50 hours of observation with certified athletic trainer or other sports medicine rehabilitation/healthcare provided is strongly recommended. As a priority admit applicant, we will accept these hours anytime prior to the start of the June 2027 start. 
  10. Invited applicants will participate in an on-campus or virtual interview.
