Krannert Memorial Library 2024-2025 Strategic Planning Document
The Krannert Memorial Library supports the Mission and Values of the University of Indianapolis.
By focusing on growth, sustainability, resource management, community engagement, and institutional memory, the library aims to enhance its role as a vital resource and central hub for the UIndy community. Emphasizing the need for digital resources and accessibility reflects the evolving needs of students and faculty in the 21st century.
Supporting The UIndy Academic Community
The library is committed to expanding access to information and resources, particularly in the digital realm, to support academic programs and student success. This includes enhancing information literacy instruction through online modules integrated into the Learning Management System, ensuring both on-campus and distance learners have equal access to resources via virtual services. Recognizing the growing importance of artificial intelligence, the library will also provide resources to support its use by students and faculty.
Effectively Managing Resources
The library will maximize the impact of library funding through efficient resource management and strategic partnerships. The library collaborates with organizations like PALNI and ALI to reduce costs and broaden resource access, while also actively assessing resource usage to ensure funds are allocated effectively and support the most impactful resources
Providing Accessible Content
The library will ensure that resources and support are more accessible and convenient. The library is developing on-demand instructional modules and exploring options for 24/7 question-answering services to better meet student needs.
Creating and Maintaining Partnerships
The library will expand access to content and programs through collaboration and resource sharing. This includes partnering with other institutions to share resources and services, and actively pursuing new partnerships with local community resources, such as the public library, to further broaden access.
Creating a Vital Campus Hub
The library offers meeting spaces, amenities, and a welcoming environment for the entire community. The library is also actively collaborating with campus partners to optimize the use of its space.
Supporting Student Athletes
The library can provide dedicated study hall spaces for athletes, provide specialized reference sessions, and develop programming or displays that celebrate and support campus athletics.
Preserving and Showcasing the University’s History
The library will expand its archives, taking on more collections, digitizing more historical documents and photos for increased access, and capturing current history as it unfolds. The library will continue to support the UIndy Saga project, which includes oral histories, and employ student workers to populate the digital repository, including student works.
