Scholars Showcase Mission Statement

The mission of Scholars Showcase at UIndy is to provide a forum for students, faculty and staff to showcase their creative ideas, innovative pursuits, and scholarly achievements. By sharing ideas and accomplishments in this mutual arena, Scholars Showcase will build and strengthen collaborative relationships across campus, and engage UIndy’s scholars with the surrounding community.

Scholars Showcase Goals

1. Increase the recognition of scholarly achievements by UIndy students, faculty and staff through an annual Scholars Showcase event that is regarded for its valued tradition and contributions by our surrounding professional, alumni and supporter communities.
2. Provide students with exceptional development opportunities to demonstrate their scholarly work in a professional capacity.
3. Promote existing and new collaborative initiatives among disciplines and units across campus through active participation and exchanges during Scholars Showcase. 
4. Expand Scholars Showcase events to include:
   1. Invited keynote addresses
   2. Featured faculty and student presentations/performances
   3. Student “elevator” pitch competition sponsored by community partners
   4. Sponsored awards such as an alumni award, People’s choice award, Provost’s award, etc.
5. Develop partnerships with internal and external agencies to provide additional experiences and opportunities for Scholars Showcase participants.  
6. Create a campus-wide environment that would support  an “alternative day of learning” during Scholars Showcase providing students opportunities for learning beyond traditional classroom experiences.
