Potential Careers

  • Professional band leader and jazz artist who composes, records, and performs original jazz compositions with their own small, medium, or large jazz groups at jazz clubs, concert halls, and jazz festivals. This person must also develop an audience to which they can promote and advertise their performances.
  • Professional sideman musician who performs Jazz, Blues, R & B, Rock, and more with small jazz groups, big bands, and commercial groups at jazz clubs, concert halls, jazz festivals, restaurants, weddings, and corporate events.
  • Adjunct private music teacher of instrument-specific lessons, or lessons on jazz style and improvisation.
  • Adjunct director of middle school or high school jazz ensembles.
