Private Studies Policies at the Community Music Academy

Payment

Within two business days after enrollment, a University of Indianapolis instructor will contact you. Once there is an agreement about the number and length of lessons, the University will send an invoice. Payment is due before the first lesson.

Refunds

No refunds are given unless extreme circumstances exist.

Missed Lessons/Classes

If a student must miss a scheduled lesson, the instructor must be notified at least 24 hours in advance. At the time of cancellation, the student and instructor may attempt to reschedule the lesson. Instructors will accommodate lesson-change requests no more than two times per semester.

Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be considered unexcused and will not be rescheduled.

Weather-Related Closings

The UIndy Department of Music will close due to inclement weather only if the University as a whole closes. Weather-related closings will be posted on the UIndy home page. If there is no weather-related closure announcement, Community Music Academy private lessons will take place according to the original schedule.

Discounts

The UIndy Department of Music offers a 10% discount to current UIndy students/faculty/staff, UIndy alumni and families with multiple members enrolled in lessons.

Safety

Parents/guardians, for their safety, we ask that you escort your students directly to their classes/lessons and then pick them up promptly at the end of the meeting time. Please do not allow children to wander unsupervised through the building. It is not the responsibility of faculty or staff to supervise children outside of their classes/lesson times.

Minors on Campus Policy

The University of Indianapolis strives to maintain a safe and secure environment for minors participating in University programs and activities.

The University’s Minors on Campus Policy applies to Community Music Academy studies and establishes guidelines for Authorized Adults who may work or interact with individuals under the age of 18 in a covered program or activity.
