UIndy School of Nursing Alumni

"I’m using my degrees (BSN 2011, MSN 2014) to make a difference for the birthing mamas of Lafayette and have delivered nearly 550 babies in my community and cared for hundreds of other women through pregnancy, birth, postpartum and well woman care."

"I graduated in 2020 (what a time) at UIndy’s SON with my BSN. I started off in the ER in South Bend, Indiana. After about a year and a half, I felt this tug to pursue taking care of the pediatric population. I found my way into NICU nursing! I am currently working at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago in their NICU unit."

"I graduated with my BSN in 2012 and have been a pediatric travel nurse for 10 years now! I have worked at over 10 children’s hospitals across the country and have traveled countless places. I also started my own private baby nursing company! I can’t thank UIndy enough for my solid nursing foundation!"

"I have used my BSN at UIndy to participate in multiple aspects of nursing. I have done bedside nursing in Med-Surg telemetry, ICU, and OB. I was utilized as a float nurse in a rural hospital which is rare because my director was confident in my education and knowledge. I now use my degree to teach ASN RN clinical and have furthered my education and am now a ENT FNP at the same hospital I worked bedside. My education at UIndy has allowed my family and I to live a comfortable life! "

"I used my BSN degree in the Burn ICU, Preop/PACU, Surgical/Trauma ICU & Cardiac Surgical PCU. I occasionally served as a preceptor and charge nurse over the years. Then I used my BSN and experience from that and continued my education to obtain my MSN (from UIndy) to become a FNP-C. Currently working PRN (decreased hours to stay home with kiddos) as a FNP in Internal Medicine in a sub-acute rehab setting."

"I graduated with my BSN from UIndy in 2011 and became an emergency room nurse at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. I worked as an ER nurse for 6 years. I returned to UIndy for my MSN in 2014 and graduated with my FNP in 2017. I have been working at Major Health Partners in pediatric primary care as a nurse practitioner for the past 6 years!"

"I’m using my BSN from UIndy to explore the country and expand my knowledge & skills through travel nursing as an ICU nurse!"

"I graduated from UIndy with my BSN in May of 2020. I am using my degree to live out my dream as an obstetrics nurse. I am lucky enough to work for Eskenazi, where we train in Labor & delivery, antepartum, postpartum, newborn nursery, OR and OB triage. L&D and the OR are my favorite areas. I often refer back to things I learned in nursing school to connect things going on with my patients because although they may be pregnant, they often have many more complications and pieces to connect.

Bereavement care is my absolute passion and I get to take care of these families and be a resource for the nurses on my unit when it comes to all things bereavement. This is what helped me win the DAISY award after being a nurse for only 7 months. I have also become a clinical instructor for nursing students as well. I couldn’t do any of this without the amazing education I received from UIndy."

"I graduated in 2019 and I’m using my UIndy nursing degree working as a CVICU nurse caring for open heart surgery patients, my time at UIndy gave me the ability to learn concepts and apply them into practice. That progressed into teaching new grad nurses how to take care of open heart surgery patients which allowed me to be selected as the 2023 Nursing Excellence Nursing Preceptor Award Winner."

"I am using my BSN degree from UIndy as a Bone Marrow Transplant Research Nurse. Using my knowledge and skills to care for patients with hematologic cancers and to help make a difference for the future of patients with hematologic cancers by being a part of the team of research studies for immunotherapies and chemotherapies that are being newly developed and/or improved."

"I'm using my nursing degree from UIndy as a hospice admission nurse at Paradigm Health. The BSN program not only gave me the clinical knowledge and skill set for the fundamentals of nursing, but also engagement in the community to grow holistically. I'm so thankful for the experiences and faculty who helped get me here."

"I graduated with my BSN from UIndy in 2011 and I worked as a nurse in the ED at IU Health-Methodist for 6 years. I then got my MSN and became an NP in the same ED in 2017. I’ve worked there as well as Community Health Hospital EDs floating between 4 hospitals for 5 years. This year I took an NP position specializing in benign hematology that I absolutely love!"

"I’m a BSN class of 2020 graduate, what a memorable year to become a nurse! I am a RN on the mother-baby unit and occasionally float to the NICU at Ascension St. Vincent Carmel. I am also a FNP student at Indiana Wesleyan University. I have 8 months left of the program! I am so grateful for my undergrad studies at UIndy. It’s a wonderful place. As a bedside nurse, I also serve as a unit charge nurse and preceptor for new hires and agency nurses. I’d love to have some more UIndy graduates join our team! Go hounds!"

"I graduated from UIndy in 2009 with my BSN. I have worked in many different settings including burn, peri-op (pre, post, PACU, PAT, and APS), and corrections. I loved the small class sizes so I didn’t just feel like a number. I plan to return for my NP in the near future. Best of luck Greyhounds!!"

"I graduated with my BSN from UIndy in 2011 and worked on a Heart & Vascular unit at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. I returned to school for my MSN at IUSB and graduated with my FNP in 2016. Ever since, I have been part of the Hospitalist group at Memorial Hospital and run an out patient pre-operative clinic. I have many fond memories of UIndy and am thankful to be where I am today!"
