A Letter to Parents

Parents,

As your child matures, they will begin a journey to step out on their own.  A piece of their journey into adulthood is discovering vocation - or what God has for them to do in this world.  During the Student Leadership Academy (SLA), we desire to equip your child for this journey.

During the week, they will listen to professors and theologians discuss the connection between faith, our world, and our work, take job and skill assessments, participate in discussions regarding God’s direction in their lives, and explore careers options.

This week is not about their entertainment, but about their development.  SLA will impact their life - now and direct their future.  While they may not have picked a career or major by the end of the week, we believe that they will return home with...

  • A greater sensitivity to the calling of God.
  • An increase in their desire to use their gifts to serve others.
  • A better understanding of who they are and what the future might hold.
  • Improved self-esteem as they understand how they fit into God’s story.
  • A new group of friends to encourage them in their faith.

In the midst of this rigorous agenda, we still know how to have fun.  During the week, we will truly experience the joy of life together in Christian fellowship.

I know that your child’s future is important to you.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me about how we can help your child.

Sincerely,

Dr. G. David Boyd
