Student Leadership Academy helped me by recognizing the passion that I have to be around children. While I plan to study neuroscience, I also hope to help children through organizations that promote foster care and adoption.
Student Leadership Academy: Summer Session
Deciding your future plans.Deciding your plans after high school doesn't have to be so hard. We give you the tools and space that you need to make the best decisions for you, so you can be confident in where God is calling you!
What is the Academy?
Student Leadership Academy (SLA) is a week-long event designed to help you discern where God is calling you to put your skills, passions, and talents to work in the world. Join other high school students from around the state in worship, service projects, discussions, and activities designed to jumpstart your vocational journey.
Helping You Plan
It seems like everyone has an opinion on your future. They all mean well, but too many voices can be overwhelming. All the noise leaves you feeling scared that you might make the wrong decision.

I learned that my passions, tools, and skills can be used in so many ways. Through the assessment, and class time, SLA opened my eyes to new professions that I had previously had not considered. It also grew my passion to pray and read the Bible.
Who Should Attend?
This program is for any high school student (including students who are graduating seniors) who desires to discover their purpose in life, and how God may be calling them to use their gifts, talents, passions, and dreams to make a difference in the world.
Student Leadership Academy is open to any high school student - regardless of where they plan on attending college.
Student Leadership Academy is a partnership between the University of Indianapolis, and the Indiana United Methodist Church. The program is open to Christian students regardless of denomination.
Daily Activities
SLA is led by the faculty, staff, and students of the University of Indianapolis. During this week, you will:
- Worship through music, spiritual disciplines, and small groups.
- Attend classes and workshops (led by professors, nonprofit leaders, and career counselors), with the purpose of equipping you to take the next step towards your future.
- Participate in learning activities that will evaluate your skills, personality, and talents.
- Experience life on the UIndy campus through sharing meals in the cafeteria, hanging out at the Student Center, and living together in a faith community.
It will be a week of fun and fellowship as you reflect on what God is calling you to become...for only $50.
