Occupational Therapy Student Organizations
Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA)
The Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) is an organization designed to provide future occupational therapists with a broad spectrum of information within the field. SOTA is committed to education, community awareness and service. Throughout the year, a variety of speakers are invited to present first-hand knowledge about clinical practice. In addition, SOTA members participate in work/volunteer opportunities within occupational therapy and the local community. The combination of OT education and community service within a social environment enables SOTA members to grow not only as individuals but also as professionals.
Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (COTAD)

The Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (COTAD) is a nonprofit organization made up of occupational therapy students, educators, and practitioners promoting justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) in the healthcare field. The goal of UIndy's COTAD chapter is to build JEDI within the School of Occupational Therapy (SOT) by increasing the profession's visibility, accessibility, and cultural humility. This student-led organization fosters safe spaces for meaningful conversations surrounding current affairs, implicit biases, culture's impact on occupations, and the importance of representation in healthcare. In addition, chapter leaders have the opportunity to collaborate and meet with other leaders nationwide. As the University of Indianapolis' chapter continues to grow we hope to see today's students become tomorrow's advocates by learning the necessary skills to provide equitable services to clients while promoting diversity and inclusion throughout practice.
