Honors Scholarship & Travel Opportunities

As an Honors College student, you are able to take advantage of several enriching travel opportunities. Whether it's for a three-week spring term course or for an entire semester, learning overseas enhances your global perspective and promotes cultural study. For more information about these and other Honors College travel learning experiences, please contact Dr. James Williams, interim executive director of the Honors College.

Honors College Spring Term study scholarships

Destinations are endless for these special May excursions. UIndy faculty lead a variety of three-week spring term courses that give a special perspective to the topics covered and experiences had during each trip. Previous destinations include Barbados, Costa Rica, Germany, Greece, Italy, Belize and China.

Four scholarships of up to $3,000 each are provided per academic year for Honors College students to cover program costs. The exact amount of the scholarship may not exceed the actual program costs as set by the faculty leader for travel and study abroad during the Spring Term course. All other costs in excess of the maximum award amount are the student's responsibility. This is a one-time scholarship and may not be combined with other UIndy travel grants, scholarships or awards.

To be eligible for this highly competitive scholarship, applicants must be enrolled as full-time Honors College students in good standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 of above. Clear evidence of maturity, depth of purpose for the specific travel course selected, openness to new and cross-cultural experiences and involvement in Honors College will factor in the selection.

Students who have never traveled abroad are especially encouraged to apply. Interested students must submit a completed application form and essay, unofficial copy of all college transcripts and two letters of recommendation. Finalists are called for an interview with the selection committee.
