The Steering Committee
The Steering Committee will make critical decisions about which options to pursue, how to proceed when obstacles are encountered and where to invest available funds available for carrying out the project.
Dr. Jonathan Evans
Dept. Chair and Professor of Philosophy and Chairperson of the Greyhound Adventures Grants Review Committee for UIndy’s Vocation Exploration programming
Evans will chair the Steering Committee and serve as primary liaison for the project to the Dean of the Shaheen College of Arts & Science.
Katherine Fries
Associate Professor of Art and Graduate Program Director for M.A. in Arts degree program of the Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences
Fries will direct artistic collaborations and connect with colleagues in the Dept. of Art & Design and SCAS more generally, and with the curator for University Permanent Collections, Mr. James Viewegh.
Dr. James Williams
Associate Professor of History and Executive Director of the Ron and Laura Strain Honors College
Dr. Williams will review materials that are written by others and will work with Cartwright in producing the essay about the UIndy saga in the 21st century and related endeavors. Williams will serve as liaison to the Strain Honors College and connect with colleagues in the History Dept. and SCAS more generally.
Special Advisors to The Steering Committee
James Willis, Ph.D. teaches religion courses in the Dept. of Philosophy & Religion and develops evaluation instruments across campus, but especially in the Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences.
Advisory Council
To make sure that the work of the Steering Committee keeps the diversity of concerns and interests of the University’s faculty and staff in view, the Project Director will consult advisors from across the UIndy community. These councilors include:
- Dr. Amanda Miller, Director of the Faculty Academy & Prof. of Sociology
- Mr. Garrison Carr, Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communication
- Mr. Jim Viewegh, Chair, Department of Art & Design and Curator, UIndy’s Permanent Collection
- Mr. Kevin Corn, Instructor in Religion, Department of Philosophy & Religion, Member of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation & Campus leader and participant in Interfaith activities at UIndy.
