We offer a stackable $500-$5,000 scholarship to any student interested in participating on the speech team. Recipients of the award are chosen by the communication faculty committee. All majors and skill levels are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Must enroll and participate in COMM 130 Speech and Debate Team course
- Must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA
- Must complete and submit the scholarship application by August 1. Students who apply by March 1 will receive priority consideration.
- Must submit a 400-word essay justifying why you should receive this scholarship
- Must submit two letters of recommendation with your application
Any full-time student in the theatre program may audition for a scholarship as early as their first semester. These scholarships are awarded through an audition or portfolio presentation process. Scholarship auditions and interviews take place towards the end of the year for those renewing their scholarship and at the beginning of their year for incoming students.
Scholarship Details
Theatre scholarships count up to ¼ of tuition for up to eight semesters.
Theatre scholarships are available to full-time theatre students. To apply for a UIndy Theatre scholarship, prospective students must complete one of two options:
- Prepare two contrasting monologues for the theatre faculty, followed by an informal interview about your creative process and experience.
- Prepare a portfolio of theatrical material. (Qualifying material can include scenic, light, costume, sound design, directorial or dramaturgical packets, or playwriting samples.) You will present the portfolio and have an informal interview with theatre faculty about experience and process.
Requirements
Minimum requirements to be awarded and maintain a theatre scholarship include:
- A graduating high school senior with a 3.25 GPA or higher
- Submit a UIndy admissions application
- Declare theatre as your communication track
- Enroll at UIndy full-time
- Fully participate, in some capacity, in each UIndy Theatre production
- Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA in your theatre courses and an overall 3.0 UIndy GPA
- Remain in good standing within UIndy Theatre and the Department of Communication
