Areas of Expertise

Rob is one who hesitates to claim expertise in anything, though he has long lived by the adage, “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”

Background Information

Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1953, Rob is a spouse (37 years), a parent (one son), a grandfather (of two), and much to his surprise, a Deacon in his church.

Research Interests

Utopias and justice as fairness, perennialism and universal salvation theology, resurrection and the afterlife, science and science fiction.

Education

  • BA, English, Indiana University
  • MA, English, University of Indianapolis

Fun facts

To riff Shakespeare, Rob was a poor bass player who once strut his hour upon the stage (Austin TX & Niles MI) then was heard (unrecorded bands) no more. The oil paints with which he illuminated Habakkuk 3:4 have dried up and his drawing arm has rusted. A character in a story told by an idiot who after 20 years with a large publisher, Rob found his Department outsourced overseas but UIndy welcoming. And yes, he is full of sound and fury—just get him mad or give him coffee.

Favorite thing about UIndy

UIndy is still in touch with its Christian roots yet non-sectarian and welcoming to all.
