About the Master of Arts in Special Education Leadership & Practice
The UIndy Master of Arts in Special Education Leadership and Practice prepares you to lead systems of special education to make a profound difference in the lives of children with dis/abilities and their families. This 100% online program will challenge you to rethink special education, acquire innovative practices and interventions, and prepare you as a Director of Exceptional Needs to disrupt traditional models and implement pervasive and sustainable change. As a valuable member of the cohort, you and your peers will conduct authentic fieldwork, engage in action research, and collaborate with community stakeholders and families. The program is designed to build your capacity to enact evidence-based practice to promote professional learning, life-long outcomes for students, and inclusive environments.
Licensures
Any representations on licensing apply to licensing in the state of Indiana only. Potential students seeking licensing in other states should check with that state's educational licensing authorities on their requirements.When Can I Start?
New students begin in August, January, or May.
MA in Special Education Leadership & Practice Admission Requirements
- A completed online application form
- A statement of purpose highlighting your interest in the program and how it will benefit your practice.
- A current CV/resume
- Your current teaching license, if applicable
- Official copies of transcripts from all institutions you have previously attended
- Students for whom English is a second language must submit TOEFL and TWE scores of at least 550 on the paper test, 213 on the computer-based test, or an 80 on the Internet-based test
- Provide certification of finances (for students who are applying for a visa)
- A photocopy of your passport
- Upon acceptance, the student may be issued a valid I-20 to process the F1 student visa. It is the applicant's responsibility to request a visa. The University of Indianapolis will have no role in the application process for a visa.
