Undergraduate Social Work Student Organizations

Social Work Association

Programs: BSW, MSW

The Social Work Association (SWA) focuses on elevating the social work profession with advocacy on campus and outreach into the Indianapolis community. The SWA leadership and its members work together in:

  • Building community, increasing awareness of under-represented populations in monthly campaigns and services,
  • Bringing guest speakers to campus to share their stories and expertise,
  • Creating and supporting campus groups supporting student needs, and
  • Networking with local agencies in job fairs

The association is open to all students on campus interested in its mission and activities. Inclusion is an important element of the social work profession.

Phi Alpha Epsilon Society: Rho Eta Chapter

Program: BSW only

“Through Knowledge - The Challenge is to Serve.”

The Phi Alpha Epsilon Society’s purpose is to promote humanitarian goals and ideals and is designed to create a closer relationship among students in the program. The organization fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.

The Rho Eta Chapter has been in existence at UIndy since 2010. Each year, this chapter invites its members from the social work program who display an evidenced interest in the profession of social work, academic excellence in social work education and other academic areas; and dedication to the idea of service to humanity. Its inductees also demonstrate a commitment to the standards, ethics, and goals of the social work profession.
