Background

Dr. VanSickle was named Indiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and  Dance (IAHPERD) Sport Management Faculty of the Year and University of Indianapolis School of Education Teacher of the Year. She is the lead author on 18 articles and abstracts published in national and state journals and has delivered over 25 presentations at state, national and international conferences. She has also consulted with area sports organizations including the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, NCAA, Indy Parks and Recreation and Special Olympics Indiana, and has served on planning committees for Super Bowl XLVI, NCAA Final Fours and NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

Background

Mindy Hartman Mayol, PhD, FACSM, EP, is currently an Associate Professor in the College of Health Sciences’ Department of Kinesiology, Health & Sport Sciences at the University of Indianapolis teaching in both the Bachelor and Master of Exercise Science programs as well as the Bachelor and Master of Public Health programs. Mayol received her PhD in the Health & Rehabilitation Sciences program at Indiana University Indianapolis with a Functional Participation/Limitation concentration and minor in Public Health: Social and Behavioral Sciences. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and her Master’s degree in Applied Sport Science from Indiana University Bloomington.

Mayol is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and is an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist. She was awarded the 2022 Indiana University Bloomington School of Public Health Anita Aldrich Distinguished Alumni Award, 2021 UIndy Inspire Award, and the 2014 UIndy Faculty Achievement Award. Mayol published the 4th edition of her textbook, Wellness: The Total Package (2024) focusing on multi-dimensional wellness for the emerging adult population.

Motivation and behavioral factors in tactical operators as well as sport motivation, behavioral return to play factors, and multi-dimensional wellness in collegiate student-athletes

Background

Dr. Bates has two decades of experience as a physical therapist in hospital ambulatory and private practice (general orthopedics), including additional experiences in clinic management, acute care, skilled rehabilitation facilities, and home health. He is a Board-Certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist and a Certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults. Dr Bates also has more than a decade of teaching experience in physical therapy education (PTA and DPT), including experiences as program director and clinical education director, as well as additional teaching experiences in occupational therapy. He has published and presented at international, national, and state conferences on topics of interprofessional and interprofessional education, online pedagogy, and older adult community wellness programming. In 2019, he was awarded the FA Davis Outstanding Physical Therapist Assistant Educator Award by the APTA.

Dr. Gerzina has extensive expertise in teaching health professions students in a variety of areas including statistics, research design, interprofessional education related to mental health and the healthcare of older adults, simulation methodology including standards of best practice and human performance-based assessment, humanism in healthcare and professional development. She has published her work in journals and book chapters and presented regionally, nationally, and internationally in her areas of expertise.

Background

Anna McIntire is an Adjunct Professor in the College of Health Sciences' Department of Kinesiology, Health & Sport Sciences at the University of Indianapolis. She teaches in both the Bachelor and Master of Public Health programs as well as in the Bachelor of Health Scinces program. McIntire received her MPH degree at Indiana University Indianapolis and her Bachelor's in Community Health Education from the University of Indianapolis. She is also the Association Director of Community Health at the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis.

Background

Oswalt has spent 10 years being connected with UIndy. She was a student-athlete here where she earned my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and went on to receive her Master of Public Health while on the track and field team. She also served as a graduate assistant on the team while starting her professional career in corporate wellness working for the National Institute for Fitness and Sports. Following graduate school, she served as the Director of Contact Tracing at UIndy while continuing her coaching career as an Assistant on the track and field team. After the COVID pandemic slowly came to an end, she began working in an administrative setting for the athletics department and served as the compliance director. She has a wide range of experience in all things Kinesiology, Health & Sport Science.

Background

Tisdale is a mission-driven leader with over 25 years of experience in the corporate and entrepreneurial sectors of healthcare and aging care. As Executive Director of the University of Indianapolis Center for Aging and Community, she leads initiatives that drive progress and impact in aging care. Before this role, she founded one healthcare consulting firm and co-founded another, both dedicated to enhancing healthcare organizations and improving quality outcomes. She also serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Indianapolis, mentoring the next generation of healthcare administration leaders.
