UIndy's Summer Research Institute
Collaborative research and mentorshipThe Shaheen College of Arts and Sciences Summer Research Institute provides undergraduate students at UIndy with an intensive applied research experience for a three-week period every May under the supervision of a faculty research mentor. Projects are solicited from across the College, offering those participating a unique hands-on experience with research methods and analysis techniques employed across disciplines.
About the Program
Summer Research Institute participants are selected through a competitive process. The program provides funding which frees students to work full-time on their research during this period—sometimes 30-40 hours a week—allowing them to immerse themselves in the topic and methods of research. The Summer Research Institute concludes with oral presentations to their peers.
The Summer Research Institute gives students and their faculty mentors the opportunity to collaborate on cutting-edge research projects which are often continued into the next academic year. Interested students and their faculty mentors must apply and commit to working on campus the length of the term and program. Additionally, participants are strongly encouraged to participate in the final presentations following the completion of the program.
