UIndy's First-Generation Scholar
The legacy starts with you! You'll find a community of support waiting for you at UIndy. First-generation college students have recently made up around 40% of our incoming freshman classes so we understand the unique challenges you face as a first-generation student. Whether these challenges manifest themselves financially, academically, or emotionally, we have resources on campus dedicated to making you successful.
First and foremost, we strive to make sure anyone who is accepted to UIndy has the opportunity to attend and won’t be stopped by financial constraints. Over 99% of our freshmen receive some sort of financial aid, with an average aid package over $28,000.
Resources on campus like the Center for First-Year Experience & Student Success and Stephen F. Fry Professional Edge Center ensure that our first-generation students have all the tools necessary to make a seamless transition to college life and can handle the associated academic rigors —and eventually transition into their careers once their time as a student is complete.
The close-knit campus community and small class sizes at UIndy are ideal for first-generation students. Our dedicated professors are heavily invested in your success. You won’t just be another face in the crowd here at UIndy. It's our promise that we are here for you now, and will be with you every step the rest of the way.
