About the Faculty Academy

Mission

The Faculty Academy for Excellence and Innovation is designed to organize communities of learning that engage and connect faculty to each other, their professional responsibilities, and the University's mission. The Faculty Academy is UIndy's campus-wide professional development center providing tenured, tenure-track, and non-tenure-track faculty with the support they need to excel as teachers, scholars, and mentors. In turn, these initiatives support student engagement and retention and help create graduates who are lifelong learners.

The Faculty Academy offers support for numerous aspects of the professoriate life. The Faculty Academy staff bring a passion for teaching and learning and offer expertise in developing teaching and learning strategies based on research and best practices. The Faculty Academy personnel are dedicated to fostering a university community where outstanding facilitation of learning leads to significant and transformative learning. In addition, we offer support for faculty to enhance their scholarly initiatives. Finally, we help faculty develop career skills useful for excelling in professional service and promotion. Our professional consultants are available to discuss any aspect of teaching, such as enhancing classroom techniques, designing courses, and integrating technology.
