Roche Academy FAQs

Application Information

To apply for the Academy, please submit your information via the interest form at this link. The Roche Academy Program Manager will reach out to you with more information and the specific application process for the program.

To be eligible to participate in the Academy students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be currently enrolled at UIndy as either an Engineering or STEM major
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Have four semesters of study remaining
  • Be 18 years of age or older and legally able to work in the U.S.

The deadline for submitting applications for the Academy will occur every fall semester. To find out the specific deadline for this year’s cohort, please check the Roche Academy site.

The interview process for the Roche Academy takes place in the fall semester junior year. Following recruitment events, students are encouraged to complete an online application posted on Roche’s website. The application requires a cover letter, resume, and faculty recommendations. The completed applications are reviewed by Roche stakeholders and candidates are selected for the interview process. At this time, students are presented with the program expectations to consider throughout the process. Selected candidates then participate in an on-site interview at Roche.

Following the interviews, Roche will provide feedback and extend offers to selected students via a phone call. Students have one week to make a final decision.

Between 10-25 students will be selected to participate in each cohort.

The program will select a new cohort of every fall semester. Applicants must have four semesters of coursework remaining at the time of application, which can include the current semester they are enrolled in currently. Interviews and selection occur following the application deadline in the fall semester. Upon acceptance into the Roche Academy, the program commences the following spring semester with required coursework and cohort experiences.

Students can submit an interest form during any semester in which they are enrolled.

Roche Academy Program Information

The Roche Academy prepares students specifically for the biomedical equipment professional position but also provides students with a strong foundation for a long-term career with Roche Diagnostics.

Upon successful completion of their internship commitment, Roche will extend full-time offers for the biomedical equipment professional role in the fall of senior year. Students who accept their offer receive a retention incentive of $10,000 and make a two-year commitment to remain at Roche.

For the employment offer to remain in effect, students must complete the remainder of the academic requirements and graduate from UIndy. Additionally, students receive a relocation bonus to offset moving expenses (when applicable) upon beginning employment at Roche.

The summer internship lasts 10-weeks and students will work eight hours per day during the duration of the internship. The internship is a rotational program that includes experience in the call center, back office, workshop repair, field work with customers, as well as further skills-based training such as IT and engineering.

Yes, the internship is paid.

There are no credits awarded for the internship at this time. This will be a future consideration as the program expands.
