Center for Service-Learning & Community Engagement
Promoting education for service. What we do
A resource center, the Center for Service-Learning & Community Engagement at UIndy supports faculty and student development through service-learning and other community engagement initiatives. The Center coordinates and offers faculty development workshops, student services that promote social responsibility and creates spaces for community connections. The primary role of the Center is to promote and support UIndy’s motto, “Education for Service,” through curricular and co-curricular experiences.
Service-Learning Assessments
- Survey for Students
We would like to know students' thoughts about service-learning. If you would take a few minutes for our service-learning student assessment survey, we would appreciate it. - Survey for Community Partners
The goal of this assessment is to collect actionable feedback from community partners and implement improvements to successfully address community partners' concerns.
Reporting Service Hours
UIndy is overjoyed to acknowledge the students who embark in their path with service-learning. In order for students to receive the acknowledgment they deserve, hours must be documented through HoundsConnect. HoundsConnect is a UIndy service platform that offers students the opportunity to find, track, store their service hours, as well as share their service-learning resume. UIndy students are able to track their service hours for service-learning courses, registered student organizations, individual use, and to include on official UIndy transcripts. Students may also search through a variety of community needs that are available in the Indy community, posted by our community partners. UIndy students can log in to the platform using their UIndy credentials at houndsconnect.uindy.edu.
Location
The Center for Service-Learning & Community Engagement is located in Esch Hall, Room 134.
