The University of Indianapolis has several events and programs to introduce new students and their families to UIndy and to help students make a smooth transition to college life.
Freshman students who have never studied at another college or university will attend one of UIndy's Summer Registration Days for orientation. Transfer students, students who are coming to UIndy having already studied at another college or university, will attend one of UIndy's Transfer Orientation Days to receive important campus information.
All new students are required and expected to attend Welcome Week events, during the week leading up to the start of classes.
This activity-filled week helps all new students get acquainted with UIndy and each other and gets their college experience off to a good start. Welcome Week lasts from Move-In Day to the semester's first day of classes.
Mark your calendars and start making plans to attend UIndy's Family Weekend October 6-8. This annual event provides an opportunity for parents to visit with students, attend classes and presentations, tour the campus and meet other UIndy families. This year's Family Weekend will include a concert on Smith Mall by songwriter, producer and pianist Jon McLaughlin. We hope all our Greyhound families can join us for this fantastic weekend.
Freshman students who will be attending college for the first time and have not studied at another college or university will need to attend a Summer Registration Day for orientation. Along with a full day of activities, freshmen will have the chance to meet with an academic advisor and schedule their first semester classes.
Students coming to UIndy who have already studied at another college or university will need to attend a half-day Transfer Orientation Program. During this day, transfer students will get all the information they need to be successful at UIndy, as well as have the opportunity to register for classes, get their student ID and parking permit, and more.
