Dr. Noureldin is a researcher and educator with training and experience in both pharmacy and gerontology. She is also a board-certified geriatric pharmacist. She has worked in academic and private sector settings. She has presented her research at local, state and national conferences and published in peer-reviewed healthcare journals. Dr. Noureldin values service and is actively involved in several professional organizations.

Background

Dr. Borrero has taught as a faculty member in higher education since 2012. She currently teaches in both the Doctor of Health Science and Master of Aging Studies programs at UIndy. She teaches courses Psychology of Aging, Development and Evaluation and Qualitative Research Methods and Analysis, and Research Skills Development, among others. She is activity involved in the Gerontological Society of America, including its education section, the Academy for Gerontology in Higher Education.

Background

Dr. Chinn-Gonsalves has over 35 years of experience as a physical therapist with experience in various settings, including acute care, home health, skilled nursing, neurorehabilitation, orthopedics, and sports medicine. She has worked in higher education since 2010. She enjoys teaching courses in motor development, aging, neurorehabilitation, therapeutic exercise, and professional issues. She holds certifications as a personal trainer and yoga instructor, and especially enjoys working with older club members.

Rebecka Fee has over 6 years of experience facilitating fall prevention classes for older adults and leading Dementia Friends sessions as a Dementia Friend Champion. She also has more than 20 years of experience in adult education, having served as the supervisor of training for Indiana Workforce Development, where she designed, developed, and led training programs. With a strong foundation in adult learning, Rebecka is committed to creating engaging and effective educational experiences, particularly in the areas of aging, dementia awareness, and workforce development.

Outside of her role at UIndy, Fetzko works at a research firm located near Washington, DC. She has over a decade of experience in supporting research and evaluation projects for both government and private sector clients.

Background

Haw is currently an instructor of Aging Studies at UIndy and a member of the Sigma Phi Omega National Honor and Professional Society in gerontology. She received an Early Investigator's Scholarship from the Alzheimer's Association and a grant from the Johnson County (Indiana) Community Foundation for a "Preferred Music for Patients with Dementia" project, which was conducted at two nursing facilities. She earned a certificate in "A Public Health Approach to Alzheimer's and Other Dementias" from the Alzheimer's Association.

Rehabilitation and physical therapy interventions for older adults with a specific focus on populations with neurodegenerative conditions

Background

Daphne Joslyn began her career as an architect with an interest in healing the healthcare environment to improve the patient experience and health outcomes. She returned to PTA school in 2008 and has over a decade of clinical experience treating patients with neurologic disorders. Daphne has worked in a variety of settings, from Level-I trauma hospitals to small rural clinics as a travel therapist caring for underserved populations. She is a Certified Fall Prevention Specialist and volunteers with the Seattle Department of Health conducting fall screenings for older adults in the community. She holds a certification in kinesiotaping and is a certified yoga instructor.

Quantitative methodology, Alzheimer dementia, fall prevention, and functional outcomes for older adults in long-term care settings

As a faculty member and UIndy dual DHSc/MS-AGST student myself, I can attest that the level of dedication the Aging Studies faculty have for their students and to their field is second-to-none.

Background

Land has over 20 years of human service experience with demonstrated abilities in instruction, service provision and case management to senior and disabled adults. She is experienced in administering professional assessments related to needs of vulnerable populations, counseling, conflict resolution and case management techniques. One of her greatest joys come in sharing facts with students about elders that debunk the myths and misconceptions of aging.

The colleagues I work with are phenomenal and are a great support. The students I instruct in the online formatted courses afford valuable opportunities to guide them in their own own understanding of aging through their own authentic experiences.

Background

Nitzsche teaches a number of undergraduate courses in the Aging Studies Program at UIndy and also co-developed a course on elder abuse at the graduate level. She is a Credentialed Professional Gerontologist (CPG) and Conscious Aging Facilitator (CAF). She has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year Award (2018) and Teaching in the Core Award (2022). She was awarded the Part-time/Adjunct Faculty honor from the Gerontological Society of America in 2019. She is an active volunteer, facilitating a Senior Chat Line and making wellness calls to older adults in her community. Nitzsche also acts as the Graduate Academic Advisor for UIndy's Department of Interprofessional Health & Aging Studies.

Randolph has been working in health and wellness since 2013 and with the Center for Aging & Community since 2015. She holds specialty certifications for fitness in Tai Chi for Arthritis, Barre, and Silver Sneakers. She has certified experience advocating for older adults through HUD/LIHTC/HOME compliance and has enjoyed participating in online pedagogy.
